Salmon River, New York August 7 & 8th, 2004
The KCCNY scheduled trip to the Salmon was filled with great memories, some of the highlights of the weekend:

the gargantuan downriver racing boats both set-up as canoes and kayaks, speeding along the 3 mile river with a finish time of 22 minutes – it took us 5 hours to get to the take-out!

seeing the familiar faces of the FLOW paddlers group. They were staying at Stoney’s campground as were we. Saturday evening they concluded the celebration of their annual picnic and paddling party with a towering bonfire.

the stars!
The night sky in Pulaski, NY was glowing with distant twinkling wishes. The clear (and very cold) night air made the Big Dipper hard to see with all the brilliant light of the outlying stars - these co-mingling balls of burning hydrogen gas lit up the earthly dome with flamboyance. (I know run-on sentence but my mouth was agape and neck cranked at an obtuse angle just admiring the heavens).

open boats rolling up in Titanic – Chris received spontaneous applause after rolling, from the boaters waiting at the hole.

the Salmon River 110 foot waterfall. Still the prettiest place to unwind and view the wonder of the rocks that provide all the surfing ledges of the Salmon.

the homemade ice-cream shop Ellen found, with the scrumptious amaretto gelato and ripe chunks of strawberry hard ice cream – in a chocolate and nut covered waffle cone, of course!

Hanging out with friends, as always this is what paddling is about for me – thanks all of you!
